The S&P 500 fell 0.10% to 1,687.74 in afternoon trading Friday.

The Dow Jones industrial average was off 0.19% to 15,519.51, while the Nasdaq was down 0.86% to 3,580.16.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond slipped 1.38% to 2.49%.

The price of gold rose 0.69% to $1,293.10 per ounce.


Newport Beach-based patent licensing company Acacia Research Corp. slumped about 11% to $21.92, a day after reporting disappointing results for the second quarter. Acacia had a recent market value of $1.08 billion.


San Clemente-based ICU Medical Inc. shares were off about 9% to $68, a day after reporting second-quarter profit and revenue that missed Wall Street expectations. The medical device maker had a recent market value of $991.37 million.
