The S&P 500 rose 0.25% to 1,845.65 in afternoon trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.25% to 16,545.24, while the Nasdaq was up 0.41% to 4,171.13.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.94% to 3%.
The price of gold was up 0.01% to $1,204.60 per ounce.
Irvine-based CoreLogic Inc. was down about 1.5% to $35.40 for a market value of $3.32 billion. The data and analytics provider this month bought Eqecat Inc., an Oakland-based provider of catastrophe risk models and software consulting for the insurance and reinsurance industries.
Irvine-based TRI Pointe Homes Inc. was up about 2% to $19.68 for a market value of $621.83 million. Homebuilders were mixed on Tuesday.
Costa Mesa-based networking equipment maker Emulex Corp. shares were up about 2% to $7.16 for a market value of $656.28 million. The company will close this year down about 8% amid a restructuring plan announced this month that called for the closure of a Massachusetts plant and about a 10% cut in its workforce.
