Foothill Ranch-based retailer Wet Seal Inc. named a former bebe stores Inc. executive to head up its Arden B contemporary women’s division.
Tamara Chamberlain is expected to join the company Monday as vice president and general merchandise manager of Arden B.
Wet Seal counts 62 Arden B stores and 468 of its namesake stores for teens. The company had revenue of $580.4 million in sales for the year ended Feb. 1, with a loss of $113.2 million.
Chamberlain replaces former Arden B President and Chief Merchandise Officer Sharon Hughes, who resigned, according to the company.
Chamberlain’s appointment comes as the company seeks to reverse the division's sales slump. Arden B saw a 3.1% decline in same-store sales for the quarter ended Feb. 2.
Chamberlain was previously general merchandise manager at the Brisbane-based bebe. She also has held executive positions at Anaheim-based action-sports retailer Pacific Sunwear of California Inc.
“Tamara brings a strong combination of merchandising and leadership skills, along with deep knowledge of the women’s contemporary market, that will be instrumental in our efforts to revitalize the Arden B Brand,” Wet Seal Chief Executive John Goodman said.
