Orange-based St. Joseph Health has started construction on a $261 million hospital in the High Desert community of Victorville.
St. Joseph said its new St. Mary Medical Center campus will have 128 private rooms and be a level 3 trauma center. It is expected to open in 2016 and join St. Mary’s existing campus in Apple Valley.
St. Joseph also is working on a $285 million patient tower at its St. Jude Medical Center campus in Fullerton. The Catholic health system also operates St. Joseph Hospital-Orange and Mission Hospital, with campuses in Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach.
It recently said it was going to join with Newport Beach-based Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian to start a new company to run an integrated regional health network.
