Los Angeles-based clothing company and retailer American Apparel Inc. has opened at the Irvine Spectrum Center shopping mall.

American Apparel sells trendy basics and accessories for men, women and children that are made at the company’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.

The company’s 4,000-square-foot store at Irvine Spectrum will carry the company’s lines for kids and babies, in addition to merchandise for men and women.

Irvine marks American Apparel’s third Orange County store after Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa.

The Irvine store is the company’s first new store in California since 2009.

American Apparel counts 251 stores in the U.S. and internationally, with 29 locations in Southern California. It had sales of about $547 million last year.
