Irvine-based Taco Bell Corp. continued to see sales grow during the recently ended quarter, with same-store sales for the three months through Sept. 8 up 7%.

The growth follows a host of new items added to the Taco Bell menu, including breakfast, Doritos Locos Tacos and Cantina Bell.

The momentum is expected to continue into next year and lead U.S. sales for its Louisville, Ky.-based parent Yum Brands Inc., which also operates KFC and Pizza Hut.

Taco Bell is currently testing a new store design at three restaurants in Colorado, Texas and Redwood City that will include more seating and a more neutral color palette.

Taco Bell had sales of $6.8 billion last year over 5,674 restaurants throughout the U.S., according to Chicago-based industry researcher and consultant Technomic Inc.
