Irvine-based tactical clothing and gear maker 5.11 Tactical Inc. has expanded its outdoor performance offerings with its purchase of Beyond Clothing LLC on undisclosed terms.
Seattle-based Beyond Clothing makes fleece and waterproof clothing, including jackets, vests and pants for men and women. The company manufactures all of its product in the U.S.
5.11 Tactical sells uniforms, outerwear, footwear and other gear to police officers, firefighters, military personnel and emergency response workers. The company is now aiming for growth in the outdoor market with plans to debut fitness and hunting lines in January.
The acquisition expands outdoor product offerings from 5.11 Tactical as it adds retail accounts in the category. The company’s merchandise is now available in Springfield, Mo.-based BPS Direct LLC’s Bass Pro Shops and locations of Gander Mountain Co. of St. Paul, Minn., among others.
Beyond Clothing will keep its headquarters in Seattle, and veteran executive Rick Elder will lead the brand as president. Beyond founder Scott Jones will stay on as chief designer.
5.11 Tactical began moving its product design, development and management, marketing and e-commerce departments from Modesto to Irvine earlier this year.
The company will continue to operate its logistics, finance, accounting, human resources and distribution in Modesto.
