Fisker Stops Production of KarmaFriday, November 30, 2012
A low battery supply has prompted Anaheim-based luxury hybrid automaker Fisker Automotive Inc. to temporarily stop production of its Karma sedan.
Fisker said it expects to restart production of the Karma, which sells for about $100,000, once a buyer is found for Waltham, Mass.-based A123 Systems Inc., its battery supplier.
A123 filed for bankruptcy in October.
Fisker said it is holding its remaining battery supply for existing customers until the outcome of A123’s bankruptcy auction. An undetermined number of customers could need replacement batteries under an earlier-announced recall.
