Asics Sales, Profit Jump in First HalfFriday, November 9, 2012
Irvine-based athletic shoe and apparel brand Asics America Corp. saw revenue and profit rise in the first six months, with double-digit sales gains in all of the company’s product categories.
Asics America is part of Japan-based Asics Corp. and makes shoes, clothes and accessories for running, racing, walking and other activities. The company’s business includes the United States, Brazil and Canada.
The company does not disclose sales figures.
Asics America’s net income between January and June increased 17.9% compared to a year earlier.
The company’s net sales grew 14.1% compared to a year earlier.
Asics America saw sales grow in its footwear, apparel and accessories divisions.
Asics America Chief Executive Kevin Wulff said the company is on track to meet its 2015 goal of reaching $1 billion in annual sales.
The company recently expanded its lineup of products for tennis and training. A separate department dedicated to growth of the company’s Onitsuka Tiger brand, aimed at 18- to 35-year-olds, was established last year.
