Costa Mesa-based action sports apparel maker Volcom Inc. has made a round of job cuts.
Volcom, which was acquired by Paris-based luxury label PPR SA last year, makes clothes, shoes and accessories inspired by action sports, music and art.
Thirty positions were eliminated, according to a Volcom spokesperson.
Volcom employed about 350 in Orange County and about 650 overall, according to the Business Journal’s most recent estimate.
It is unclear what positions were cut and how many—if any—were at the company’s Costa Mesa headquarters.
Volcom Chief Executive Richard Woolcott told trade publication Transworld Business in a statement that the cuts were in response to “continued challenges in the U.S. retail environment and the current economic situation in Europe…”
