Costa Mesa-based Hurley International LLC has tapped chairman and founder Bob Hurley as interim chief executive.
Hurley’s appointment follows former Chief Executive Michael Egeck’s decision to step down from the action-sports apparel brand after less than a year, according to a statement from Hurley parent Nike Inc. of Beaverton, Oregon.
Egeck joined Hurley last year after a stint at president of jeans company True Religion Apparel Inc. He replaced former Levi Strauss & Co. executive Jim Calhoun, who was named head of Nike’s Converse Inc. division less than a month after being appointed Hurley chief executive last April.
The latest Hurley executive news comes days after Nike announced plans to divest its Cole Haan and Umbro brands to focus on growth of its Hurley, Converse, Jordan and namesake labels.
