Irvine-based Opus Bank opened a banking office in Danville, its first in Northern California.

The office will be headed by Rey Garcia, vice president of retail banking. He joined Opus from Union Bank, and has banking experience at Western Federal Credit Union, Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, and Bank of America.

Opus also opened an office in Del Mar, its second branch in San Diego County following its La Jolla office.

Vice President Brenda Boggioni will be heading the Del Mar office in addition to the La Jolla office. She previously worked at San Diego National Bank, Union Bank, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America, among others.

“The openings of the Danville and Del Mar locations continue our strategic expansion in the major metropolitan areas up and down the West Coast,” Chief Executive Stephen Gordon said. “The Danville banking office is our first in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, where we have already established a significant number of client relationships through our income property and commercial business banking divisions.”

Opus is the largest Orange County-based bank by assets, with $2.4 billion at the end of the first quarter.
