Costa Mesa-based direct marketing agency Rauxa added a website design firm to its fold with its acquisition of ThoughtMatrix Inc. in San Francisco.

Terms of the deal, which closed Jan. 1, were not disclosed.

Rauxa, which has 74 workers here, counts clients such as Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Verizon Wireless and Farmers Insurance Group in Los Angeles.

The deal adds ThoughtMatrix’s 44 employees to Rauxa.

Rauxa has about $75 million in revenue, according to Business Journal estimates.

“This acquisition will expand Rauxa’s service footprint and continues our growth and evolution in digital services,” said Rauxa Chief Executive and founder Jill Gwaltney in a statement.

ThoughtMatrix is expected to help bring additional capabilities in mobile, social media and other areas of digital marketing.

ThoughtMatrix, which has offices in San Francisco and Chicago, counts clients such as Cisco, EBay and Expedia.

The two agencies’ offices in San Francisco are expected to combine in a new San Francisco location by the middle of the year. Chief Digital Officer John Barneson will lead the new office.

ThoughtMatrix’s Chicago office will remain open.

ThoughtMatrix was founded by Tony Rems and Trevor Fagerskog about nine years ago. Rems is Rauxa’s senior vice president of Technology. Fagerskog was named senior vice president of operations.
