Eric Wintemute, chief executive of Newport Beach-based American Vanguard Corp., has exercised 450,000 options in the company’s common stock.
The options were set to expire at the end of this year.
Wintemute paid $3.67 per share, according to a form filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. American Vanguard has about 28 million shares outstanding.
Shares were down nearly 1% today, trading at about $32.73 per share, with a market value of about $918 million.
Wintemute also is filing a form for a potential sale of up to 190,000 shares of the company’s common stock “for tax and estate-planning purposes arising from [the recent] option exercise,” according to American Vanguard.
