The Costa Mesa Conference & Visitor Bureau refreshed its brand with an updated logo set to run alongside its “City of the Arts” tag line.

The new logo and tag line are part of an effort to help build awareness of the city’s cultural offerings, which include the Segerstrom Center for the Arts and public art installations. Construction on the Orange County Museum of Art, which will relocate from Newport Beach to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus, is expected to begin next year with an opening slated for 2016.

The bureau’s advertising agency is Manhattan Beach-based Myriad Marketing.

The brand refresh to emphasize the arts will likely be a welcome departure from recent attention Costa Mesa has drawn for its political battles over public-pensions and other matters.

Costa Mesa isn’t alone in updating its brand. The city of Dana Point launched a brand refresh earlier this year with the help of Santa Ana-based ad shop Agency 51.

The city launched a new website, logo, slogan and print advertisement in May.
