Paul Frank Signs New Licensing DealsTuesday, August 21, 2012
The parent of Paul Frank Industries LLC has inked new licensing deals for its travel accessories and children’s apparel lines.
Paul Frank is part of Los Angeles-based media and entertainment investment firm Saban Capital Group, whose Saban Brands LLC acquired it in 2010. Paul Frank’s design team remains based in Costa Mesa.
Paul Frank is known for its apparel, wallets, bags, stationary, eyewear and other products featuring cartoon-like characters such as Julius the monkey.
A new travel line will be made through a licensing deal with Chatsworth-based Loungefly. The line includes backpacks, wallets, coin purses and lunch boxes among other items. The products debuted Monday at Santa Monica-based Advanstar Communications Inc.’s apparel industry trade show MAGIC in Las Vegas.
Loungefly has the license to make T-shirts and accessories under brands such as Disney, Peanuts and the Muppets.
The Paul Frank travel line will be available in specialty stores for spring 2013.
Paul Frank also signed a licensing agreement with New York-based Parigi Group Ltd. to make apparel for Paul Frank’s Small Paul and Paul Frank Children’s lines with sizes ranging from infant to tweens.
The new apparel lines will be sold in department and specialty stores nationally next fall.
Parigi has the license to make children’s clothing under brands such as Puma, DKNY and Lucky Brand among others.
