Former Marriott International Boss to Lead Irvine Consultancy

Irvine-based Laguna Strategic Advisors LLC announced the appointment of Ed Fuller, the former head of Marriott International Inc., as president.

Fuller is a founding partner in Laguna Strategic Advisors, which works with independent consultants who advise companies on risk management, organizational development and other business strategies for various industries.

Fuller’s appointment was effective July 30. He is based in the Irvine office.

Fuller was most recently president of Bethesda, Md.-based Marriott International, where he oversaw an $8 billion division with more than 550 hotels in 72 countries outside the U.S. He had been with Marriot since 1972, holding various positions ranging from general manager of hotels to regional vice president of the U.S. before joining the international group in 1991.

Fuller, who retired from Marriott in March, is an adjunct professor at the University of California, Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business, and a visiting professor at Boston University.

He also serves on the state’s Travel and Tourism Commission.
