Anaheim-based action sports retailer Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. promoted Alfred Chang to vice president of men’s merchandising and design.
Chang most recently served as vice president of men’s merchandising.
Pacific Sunwear, which totals 727 stores throughout the country and Puerto Rico, sells clothes, accessories and shoes inspired by action sports, fashion and music.
Men’s is a big category for Pacific Sunwear, accounting for 49% of product sold in its stores last year.
The promotion follows the resignation of former Senior Vice President of Men’s Merchandising Charlie Mescher, who had been with the company since 2005. Mescher’s resignation was announced and effective Thursday.
Chang has been with Pacific Sunwear since 2006.
The promotion comes while the company is in the midst of a turnaround that has seen new marketing, in-store merchandising efforts and more focus on the company’s proprietary clothing lines along with the shuttering of underperforming stores.
Pacific Sunwear is expected to report results for the July quarter later this month.
The company said it expects a loss of between $7.4 million to $10.8 million and did not provide revenue guidance.
Analysts on average expect a loss of $8.1 million and revenue of $203 million for the quarter.
