Cypress-based swimsuit maker Manhattan Beachwear Inc. struck a deal to make swimwear in the U.S. for German athletic apparel company Adidas AG.

Manhattan Beachwear will make two lines for Adidas for men and women. A high-performance line is called Adidas Pool. A second line, called Adidas Beach, will focus on fashion swimwear. Both lines are expected to be in stores in January.

The lines will be sold in major department stores and sporting goods stores, according to a spokesperson for Manhattan Beachwear.

Manhattan Beachwear holds the license to make swimwear under brands such as Ralph Lauren, Trina Turk, Hobie and Kenneth Cole Reaction. It also makes swimwear under its own labels, which include La Blanca and The Bikini Lab.

Manhattan Beachwear has sales of nearly $550 million and 240 workers in Orange County.
