Cypress-based Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. said it's increasing the price on the electric vehicle it plans to debut next year.
The automaker cited "unforeseen changes in market conditions" as the reason for the price adjustment to the 2012 Mitsubishi i.
The increase amounts to $1,135.
That brings the price of the Mitsubishi i ES entry-level model to $29,125. The upper-tier SE version will now sell for $31,125.
The i is an all-electric vehicle that’s expected to become available early next year.
The price announcement on the i comes after the automaker reported a surge in its August vehicle sales.
Mitsubishi saw August sales up 86% from a year earlier to 7,985 vehicles.
Mitsubishi's Endeavor crossover led sales for the month with 1,799 sold, up from 206 Endeavors sold a year earlier.
