Orange County’s employment figures in May were littered with mixed signals. Job losses in the important professional and business services sector outpaced gains in other industries as the county shed 1,100 jobs in May from April, breaking a three-month streak of job gains.

Chapman Forecast: County to Add 50,000 Jobs Through 2012

Orange County will add jobs at a modest pace in nearly every sector despite a recent trim on the outlook for the local economy, according to a forecast from Chapman University. Economists at school in Orange expect the county to add 20,000 jobs in 2011, a gain of 1.5%.

Irvine’s Masimo Corp. said Wednesday that it signed a long-term, non-exclusive deal with the Netherlands’ Royal Philips Electronics NV in which it will supply Philips with patient monitoring technology.
