Fisker Adds Former Chrysler CEO to Board

Anaheim-based luxury hybrid automaker Fisker Automotive Inc. named a former head of Chrysler Group LLC to its board.

Tom LaSorda joins the Fisker board as vice chairman, a newly created position. He will act as an adviser to Fisker co-founder and Chief Executive Henrik Fisker.

LaSorda served as chief executive and vice chair of Auburn Hill, Mich.-based Chrysler prior to retirement from the company in 2009. He also spent 23 years at General Motors Co.

LaSorda last year co-founded Stage 2 Innovations, a $100 million venture capital fund that focuses on companies with patentable technologies.

LaSorda’s appointment follows news that Richard Beattie, another automotive industry veteran, joined Fisker earlier this week as chief commercial officer. Beattie is a former chief executive of Mazda’s Irvine-based North American Operations and former executive vice president of marketing and sales at Mahwah, N.J.-based Jaguar Land Rover North America.
