Anaheim-based Fisker Automotive Inc. named a former executive of Jaguar Land Rover North America as its chief commercial officer, a new position at the company.

Richard Beattie will oversee global marketing, sales and the customer service divisions for Fisker, which makes luxury hybrid vehicles.

Fisker Chief Executive Henrik Fisker said in a statement that Beattie’s hiring “completes our transition from a start-up car company to a volume manufacturer.”

“His experience in the premium car sector will be crucial as we continue to reach new customers in both Europe and Asia,” Fisker said.

Beattie also served as chief executive of Irvine-based Mazda North American Operations, running the company between 1997 and 2000.

Beattie most recently served as Mahwah, N.J.-based Jaguar Land Rover North America’s executive vice president of marketing and sales, a position he held since 2009.

He also previously served as vice president of marketing, sales and service at Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford Motor Co.’s Lincoln-Mercury division.
