Foothill Ranch-based Oakley Inc. has signed a licensing deal to have a Canadian company make, market and distribute its line of women’s swimsuits and related products.

The deal with Montreal-based Trimera Group covers Oakley’s women’s swimsuits, cover-ups, hats, accessories and other swim gear.

The merchandise will be sold in Oakley stores along with specialty and department stores, starting in late 2012. The Oakley website also will also carry the swimsuits.

Oakley, part of Italy’s Luxottica Group SPA, makes sunglasses, goggles, prescription frames, apparel, shoes and accessories.

Trimera’s specialties include swimwear, activewear and intimates. The company has licenses with a number of large apparel brands, including Beaverton, Ore.-based Nike Inc. It also has a deal with Seal Beach-based Affliction Holdings LLC.
