Heidi Miller notes that now three OC icons have died on Jan. 11—John Crean in 2007 at age 81, Carl Karcher in 2008 at age 90 and Harriett Wieder last week at age 89: “All of the same generation, all strong and courageous individuals, all standing up for their very different beliefs, popular or not.” The life of former Supe Wieder will be celebrated Jan. 31 at 3 p.m. at University Synagogue in Irvine.
