Beckman Coulter Inc., Fullerton, has reorganized itself into three divisions, and named company executives to lead each.
George Bers, who recently joined the company as vice president of bioresearch, will head Beckman’s new life science research division. Edgar Vivanco, formerly senior vice president of diagnostic development, corporate manufacturing and quality, will lead the new specialty testing division. Albert Ziegler, formerly senior vice president of Beckman’s diagnostics commercial operations, will run the new clinical diagnostics division.
President and CEO John Wareham cited the company’s 2000 financial performance, a large array of products and its global presence as reasons for the realignment.
Beckman, among other things, designs, manufactures and markets a variety of instrument systems and reagents for biomedical testing. Such tests can range from simple, one-use diagnostic screening kits to complex DNA sequencing.
