Irvine-based Resources Connection Inc. is acquiring crisis public relations firm Sitrick and Co. and restructuring consultant Brincko Associates Inc. for $43 million in cash and stock.Resources, a provider of accountants and other professionals to companies on a project basis, plans to create a corporate advisory and restructuring subsidiary by combining Los Angeles-based Sitrick and Brincko of Riverside.
Famed crisis manager Michael Sitrick is set to head the subsidiary. He’s represented celebrities and restructuring companies.
Local Sitrick clients include Broadcom Corp. cofounder Henry Nicholas, who’s awaiting trial on federal charges over options backdating and drugs, and Santa Ana-based hospital operator Integrated Healthcare Holdings Inc.
Part of the acquisition price includes “the personal goodwill of Michael Sitrick,” Resources said.
Michael Sitrick is set to be chief executive of the Sitrick Brincko Group LLC and report to Resources Chief Executive Don Murray.
John Brincko of Brincko Associates is set to be president and chief operating officer of the new unit.
“All one has to do is to read the daily headlines to see why we are so excited about this acquisition,” Murray said. "Despite predictions that the recession is over, the business landscape remains littered with troubled companies and indeed whole industries.”
The acquisition is set to close by the end of November.
